Some people may not be aware that you can actually change the look of the Administration page in wordpress. The default one is lackluster to say the least. What I love about the Tiger admin is actually its Apple feel. Now I am not the biggest Apple fan, but I do split my time with mac’s and pc’s, and anyone will tell you that the mac’s just look nicer. In fact, that is a great analogy; the default admin is like a windows 95 desktop, with the tiger admin looking like, well, OSX tiger. Now, with version 3.0, Steve Smith changed the whole look of the admin. It still has a mac feel, but he says it reflects his style much better, and I must say that it is a wonderful change up. I love the look. Checking for spam has never been so pleasant.
To go along with this great admin style, I recommend adding on the ‘Admin Drop Down Menu’ plugin by Ozh. He describes it as follows:
The lazy and the productive will love it : all admin links available in a neat CSS driven drop down menu. No need to click on “Manage” then “Comments” to edit comments, go to any admin page from any admin page.
So, combining these two tools will not only make your blogging life easier, but prettier as well.
Nice find, I can’t apply this to my blogs as the risk of being spotted using a Mac like interface would be too great, but I’ll have to think about using this for other installs I run – where the user might see the default WP interface as too clunky.
Yeah, I am a major fan of this thing and like you, I am not a mac person, but the regular theme is not that appealing and SpotMilk isn’t my favorite either.
nice info
