I had never heard of blogtipping until a few days ago. It was a subject that had eluded me for quite a while. My journey towards finding this blogging technique was actually quite interesting. I started off in Google Reader checking out the latest from my favorite sites. I was reading a post from ProBlogger that was talking about getting some link love, and it led me to a post by Brandon Hopkins called 66 ways to build links in 2007. One of the ways to build links was this thing called Blogtipping, which at first, I thought had to do with receiving some sort of 20% gratuity… But alas, I found a definition from Business Blog Wire:
Blogtipping is where you publish a blog post in which you link to three unsuspecting blogs and offer three compliments and one helpful tip to each blogger. (Or adapt those numbers to your own preferences; the principle of selflessness is what matters most here.) Blogtipping is a refreshing and useful surprise that can start a blogger’s month with a huge smile! (Plus you get an appreciative link from me if you do it.)
So here we go with the tipping. These people are some of my original blogging friends. I have known them for quite a while now (in internet time, that is) and these are my comments for them.
Excellent job - you seem like a blogtipping oldtimer! Hopefully we can all go blogtipping on May 1, the anniversary of the first monthly Blogtipping Day.
Oh, I will be tipping!
I like the idea of tipping - but considering my domain name I’m partial to the bovine imagery.
I have something similar going on my site as well

I wrote on your site as well, Mr. Bull, sir. But I will be participating
That’s a pretty awesome concept. I know I’ve heard of it, but I never really went looking for the definition lol. Great post!
Ok, so I’m guilty of not posting enough; but I point the blame finger at you J David!!! You and all the other bloggers in the blogsphere are the reason I don’t post enough — I’m always so busy reading everyone else’s interesting banter that I neglect writing my own!
Luckily I realized this before redesigning my site a month or so back. My new site features syndicated content from Flickr, online job sites and other blogs, great for post-lacking bloggers like myself [grin].
Anyway, thanks for the tipping; maybe I’ll join in on this trend myself — that’ll give me even less time to write posts!
By the way, I’m liking the new site — took a bit to get used to, but it’s growing on me.
Interesting post, i like that link you posted on 66 ways to build links in 2007
Ill do for 2008 lol
So that is what “Blogtipping” is… hmm, interesting…
