What Are Your Surfing Habits?

04.24.07 Posted in Meme, Personal by jdmacor

Web SurfingI recently realized that my surfing pattern has really changed lately. It used to be that I would start out at Netvibes and peruse my RSS feeds and look at my Gmail within the site. From there, I would head on over to Newsvine or Digg or Del.icio.us and see if there was anything worth either looking at or posting about. However, I began to realize that I didn’t really like using Netvibes as a feed reader and if I wanted to use Gmail, it would have to be opened up itself anyways. Then, it seemed like visiting 3 news aggregators was a bit of a waste.

This led to a gradual but indeed significant change in the way I browse. My start page now is just Gmail. I have set up Gmail to receive every email from all of my accounts; one inbox to rule them all, if you will. From there, I can also access my other frequently used Google services, including my Calendar and my new choice of feed reader: Google Reader. By the way, if you want to make your Google Reader a little sexier/Mac-ier, just check out my article about Stylish. Next, I started visiting popurls for all of my news aggregation needs. After that stuff, I usually Stumble a bit, then check my Google Adsense and my Text Link Ads accounts to see if I made my usual 3 cents…

  4. I, sadly, find my surfing more toward my hobbies (ie music, books) first. So, I first read the music news… then read the latest book reviews… Finally, I will check my email and the national news… Seems like I have my priorities out of order, right?
