Review: Search Engine Marketing
Post Info Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 10:33 am by J David Print Print this page Share This

Darin Carter is the writer behind Darin.cc, a Search Engine Marketing blog. He is giving away a free Nintendo Wii, and in order to get your shot at it, you only have to review his blog. If you too want a shot at it, you can read the contest rules for yourself. Besides, even if you can’t win the fabulous wii, you can at least get the linkback that everyone will receive.

In case you hadn’t noticed or read the previous paragraph, this is a paid review… of sorts. Actually, it is more like an evil review, a la  John Chow.

About:

Darin Carter is an internet entrepreneur who has been involved in internet marketing for over 9 years now. He even used to own the pay per click search engine IQSeek.Com. He created Darin.cc in order help educate us, the search engine marketing idiots (no offense to you or me…). He just wants to share some of his experience and knowledge.

Design

Here is one category where there isn’t all that much to say, but I will give it a shot. Actually, the website’s design had changed since I last checked it out. Right now, he is running the same theme that John Chow uses. It is called MistyLook and it also happens to be one of the most popular out there.

Search Engine Marketing

Now this theme is no design gem. It is very simple looking (which is not necessarily something bad) and doesn’t have practically any graphical elements. The only one to speak of is the top banner image, which Darin changed to be an Acura Integra (maybe he owns one?…). The other custom element is the color scheme, which is matched to the car. The final element that caught my eye was the sweet RSS icon. I had never actually seen that one before.

Content

As one would hope, the place where this site really shines is in its content. Darin has tons of experience in search engine marketing, and this is really reflected in his writing. His style is quite straight forward. There isn’t really a humorous element to it, but there really isn’t a need for it. In fact, he follows some great blog writing practices like making comprehensive lists and starting posts off with a quote (a tip I once mentioned).

Darin focuses on marketing, but he also writes in various other categories, such as SEO, Pay Per Click, and Search Engines in general. As a final note, here are some of Darin’s most noteworthy posts:

Looks like a great review man! And a free wii… hrmmm I might have to give this a shot on my sub-par WP site. Good luck!

    Thanks Mark!

A great review. Well put together and in a nice logical sequence. I opened the site in another tab so I didn’t leave here to quick. That must mean the review process does work.
