The Top 5 Online Ways To Stay In Touch

Stay in Touch with PeopleAll of us have experienced losing touch with people that we love. Is it a product of our society? Our culture? Who knows?! But we all know that guilty feeling of not having talked to someone since high school or returning a long overdue call. Sometimes we convince ourselves that it has been too long; it would actually be worse to talk to someone now, rather than to just keep putting it off. Well never fear, my disillusioned readers! Here are the 5 best ways to stay in touch with people, and they are all online!

  1. Geni:

Geni What better place to start then with your family? Genie is a free service that lets you build your family tree and then invite your family members to join and add all kinds of contact and general info.

  2. Facebook:

Facebook If you don’t already know, Facebook is a great way to stay in touch with your classmates, both from college and high school. And now, anyone can join! Plus they are sporting some hot new gadgets as of a few days ago.

  3. Virb°:

Virb For all of you who didn’t read my review, Virb° is the latest and greatest of the massive social networks. It is a grown up MySpace. Personally, I like to keep tabs of real (flesh and blood) friends on Facebook, but digital (people I meet online) friends on Virb°.

  4. Meebo:

Meebo Even though I do not personally love instant messaging, if I had too, I would use a multi-protocol client that would be accessible from anywhere with a connection; that would be Meebo! No installing; just log on and enjoy. The only downside is that file sharing is a no go.

  5. LinkedIn:

Linkedin The last contestant in this game is LinkedIn. There is no better way to stay in touch with your colleagues and clients than with this website. You build a profile that is a resume rather than a collection of dumb quotes and cds you like. As a bonus, the design is very pleasing to the eye.

  1. Linky Love

Talking about instant messaging: it’s very very cheap in Malaysia. So cheap that the first time I started text messaging in Europe I ran out of money in no time… crazy expensive.

Dear J david, would you be so kind to design me a simple 468 banner? I love the LL avatar you designed :-)

  2. Valentino

Since being transferred to Comcast from Adelphia, I seem to have lost the ability to retrieve my complete e-mail address list, among other things.
In addition, I tried to create a personal web site with links to yours, but if I saved it, I have no idea where it traveled to!
So, J David, can you tell me what I did wrong? Can you design for me a personal web site with links to you and to Wyllys?

  3. Valentino

Exactly what is the “smoking Shisa” picture supposed to tell me?

  4. The Geni Team

Thanks for the mention in your blog–looks like we’re in good company. Wanted to mention that we recently added the ability to add family friends to Geni–although friends have more restrictions on what they can see and do on Geni (to maintain the privacy of the family members)this provides an additional way to communicate with the important friends in your life as well as with your family.

Please contact me at the hidden geni email address I’ve given you as I’d like to connect with you.

  5. Terence Chang

Great tips. I thought there will be Yahoo messenter, MSN type of communication. I think MeeBo do it all. I also found that MeeBo has new tools called MeeboMe

    http://www.meebome.com/

It allows you to communicated with your viewer on your own web site. Kind of cool!

Ha. Know why I am here. Because I am using your WordPress Theme. Thanks!

  6. JuliaxXx

Most I like is LinkedIn and Meebo :)

  7. Fitness Freak

I am looking into Geni, I have been using myspace to keep up with family members but many find it unintuitive. Geni looks just like the right tool.
