FeedBurner Pro for Free

FeedBurner Pro is Free!I am sure many of you are aware of this news, but I just found out about it. It seems that the almighty, benevolent Google has seen fit to make a nice change to their recent acquisition, FeedBurner. They have decided to make the Pro features free to all users. All of the FeedBurner analytical goodness is now free for you and me to use (the people too cheap to pay the like $2 for a Pro account). I for one am very excited about all of this; even if it is mostly just because I now have that neat little Pro icon next to my feed…

Here is what the FeedBurner blog has to say on the matter:

One of the many benefits that FeedBurner publishers will enjoy now that FeedBurner is part of the Google family is a little something we like to call, “more for free!” Beginning today, two of FeedBurner’s previously for-pay services, TotalStats and MyBrand, will be free. Not in the sense of soaring high above the clouds or recently sprung from the hoosegow, but free like you’ll no longer gladly be billed on Tuesday for a burned feed today. We suspect this will be welcome news to the 450,000+ of you using many of our other free services, but understanding that your feed is your feed, you will need to activate these newly freed-up services in order to partake in their awesomeness.

How to activate the Pro Services

This bit is relatively simple. Just find the services when you log into your FeedBurner account, and then simply activate them, just like you would any other service. You will now be getting great tracking features along with the previously mentioned nifty Pro icon!

This is great news. Google is definitely taking over the universe! I don’t use Feedburner (technical preference), but perhaps I’ll try out PRO features with my “secret” blog. :)

I’m having trouble getting the mybrand part to work because my site host won’t cooperate with the CNAME change. Did you have any trouble like this?

Why is the title misleading 642-446? FeedBurner MyBrand used to cost money (here’s the cache of a FeedBurner page) and now it’s free (here’s the same page as it looks today) MB2-631. This change comes after FeedBurner was bought by Google and we can safely assume it’s connected to the acquisition MB2-632.
