I am sure you have all been hearing a great deal about BlogRush, the latest blog buzz topic. In fact, according to Technorati, BlogRush has been mentioned 2,000 times already! But the question is whether this new darling service is worth the hype. Of course, John Chow has adopted it, but he is also Agloco’s biggest supporter and there has been much written about how that program may be worthless. So I want to look at the bottom line here myself. I have installed the widget on my blog and have had it running for about a week and would like to share my initial thoughts with you.
Well, with all of the hype and mystique about BlogRush, the idea is actually quite simple. The underlying goal of the service is to give you readers. Basically, you install their widget on your blog, then it displays headlines from other people who have the widget installed. You, in turn, will have your posts promoted on the other blogs in the network. The more credits you generate, the more times your headlines are shown. So, you may be wondering, how do I get these credits?
The more pagviews that your blog receives, the greater number of credits you get in return. The other method to gain credits is to refer a friend, and whenever they receives pageviews, you also get credits. This method of referral earnings works through 10 generations! So, you can easily bring those credits in by the thousands!
BlogRush has now multiple color options so that you can match it to your blog’s theme! This feature will be available in a few days.
To be honest, the widget has not driven too much traffic for me. I mean, I generated plenty of credits and was displayed about 5,000 times, but have only received 2 clicks. However, I think that this has more to do with my headlines as opposed to the BlogRush system. You really have to make your headlines attractive. In fact there are plenty of tips to increase your BlogRush click through rate:
To put it simply, optimize your headlines, encourage others to sign up, and become an early adopter (they are doling out free credits for people who sign up early). Speaking of which, sign up for BlogRush now and give it a shot!
Thanks for the mention!
Nice theme, by the way.
I’m not too impressed with the BlogRush phenomenon…but that’s just me.
Does this appear to be a fair practice? Somehow this seems to be an underhanded way of driving readership.
In every blog there is a mention of blogrush. I think it’s the most in thing for all bloggers. But I would go with ‘Recording Studio Equipment’ and would like to ask whether are such practices fair? and if it turns out to be a fair thing then it will change the face of blogging.
i hav joined it too but hav’nt received any traffic from this .
Personally I think if blogrush enabled you to incorporate the links into your website it would be more appealing to the masses. As it stands, configuring the look of their plugin doesn’t do the service justice.
They should look at it from a “google adsense” sort of way, just text, with a link stating “distributed by blogrush” etc. You could easily tie it in with more of your content in that respect and would definately receive more clicks.
There are few problems that keep BR from being a great new viral product. First are the titles that are not optimized for BR.
Second, the widget itself can not be changed to suit each blog.
And third, 90% of bloggers put the widget to the page bottom so no users can actually see it.
The stats say it all, 5000 and 2 clicks.
(wow, 8 6. i had to take my shoes off)
here is a novel idea, write rich content that people in your related field want to read and give them practical tools to use. go to releated field blogs and begin a real blogging relationship with those people. it has worked for us incredibly well. BR is a farce and will fade faster than the evening sun. get exposure the old fashion way, earn it.

(woops and then i mistyped the url, yikes, my bad.)
there is so much about it on the blogs but i dont think i will use it, there are always few guys who find out how to exploit this systems.
why everyone asks how it is?
i have not read detailed review but its definitely worth trying.
Actually it’s really not worth trying it. Check out the stats from some of the bloggers that have BR. More then 20.000 impressions and only 4 clicks is the average. For now, you don’t have much use from BR.
Well I’ve tried it and without much traffic coming my way … i think its overhyped
should call it Blog-Not-so-Rush instead
Hello there David, where are you? I am looking forward to your response to my comment as well as the comment from clumsy fergie. The latter does not seem possible!
I guess he’s on a vacation of some sort.
It’s working for me.
^^Care to explain more about that? What’s your CTR?
Hey there it’s me again
from BONTB, yeah I have blogrush on my blog as well, I must say after couple of days it gives me just “some” traffic just like you said.
But honestly if its not going to be any better in 2-3 weeks ill remove it.
Btw got any cool wp themes for me? I am ready for a change…….plz help? email me thanks.
The major problem with Blog Rush is that there’s no quality control for what’s displayed. It’s not a trusted source, so why would anyone bother clicking on what it displays?
Also, it doesn’t blend well with sites - it’s too noticeable as a produced piece of content.
Blog traffic is built largely on site credibility feeding qualified traffic to qualified sites.
I didn’t understand all of the hype around this widget when it launched, and I certainly don’t understand why it still resides on so many sites. Waste of space, IMHO.
That’s nice.
I have had not luck with it either and I have had it running since it started. I don’t know that it will really work.
Where are you David?
I recently developed a free wordpress plugin called “BlogRush Click Maximizer”. By using it you can vastly improve your Click Through Rate.
This allows you to control what you want to display in BlogRush. You can even write alternate - short and catchy title just for BlogRush.
You will have total control of what appears over the BlogRush Network.
Check it out here:

Very intersting inormation, try add this widget to my blog.
Great site keep up the good work
How much unique hits have been added to your traffic since you’ve started using blogrush?
I took that thing off
for good. Let me know how your’s is ?
The widget just doesn’t invite clicks. I scan straight past it and avoid it as a click. It looks like an add.
Im not setisfied with blogrush to. I thought it will bring more trafic, let’s wait a little bit and see if it will help when more visitors will came to my site..
I added Blogrush on my site and removed it. It just ain’t what it should be.
Seems to work but not what it is all cracked up to be!
BlogRush fell apart and was a big mistake.
i love this blog
burçlar
I am going to try this on my site. Thanks for the information David
WOW!
You site may be banned for using services like BlogRush
I gave blog rush a shot and man was that a bad idea.
Give it a shot, but don’t expect too much out of it.
It sounds like it’s sleeting, but every time I turn on the outside light & look, nothings happening.
I’ve been very disappointed with BR, another of those launches that promises teh earth and delivers very little.
I might just give it a shot. It seems OK. I’m a small blogger, so what do I have to lose. I have been promoting my blog heavily and writing a ton of content, but any other source of marketing works for me.
I don’t understand the hype around this widget. It is nothing but waste of space.
its a waste of your website real estate. not delivering what they promised to do.
I was disappointed by BlogRush.
I’m sitting on the fence here. Not convinced it will live up to the hype but what have you got to lose from trying?
I can imagine a clicktrough of two clicks dissapoints you, it would dissapoint me too! But I think that in the blogrush has become more expanded and better
thanks
thank you ^^Care to explain more about that? What’s your CTR?
? love you blog thanksss
The only problem I see is that the poor guy who hasn’t heard of this won’t get nearly all the clicks as the first guy because he won’t have the generations as large…if that makes sense. I’m not sure I buy into this whole thing very much… We’ll see though.
It’s a simple link exchange system but made only for blogs. I think google will ban it soon.
thanks for the posting.
really helpful
Personally I found there are some problems that keep BlogRush from being a great new viral product such as titles that are not optimized for BlogRush etc…
Don’t have much luck with it too, 4000 views with 3 clicks…
It looks like this blog has been abandoned and taken over by the spammers.
Yes NYC, this is not false.
But I think this game won’t be long.
I have read in many places that BlogRush is a hopeless widget which does not actually bring any value. Of course, if you have an extremely popular blog with a lot of page views, and you have that small square of space for it, then why not? If there are no negative effects then surely it’s not all bad.
John
Blogrush CTR is very very bad. So good luck to you getting more than one visitor/day.
I had considered Blogrush but hadn’t tried it. I’m still not convinced.
