One of the greatest sources for inspiration is Flickr. I mean, we all know that. But how many of you use it as an inspiration source for typography? Well, until recently, I know that I didn’t. Apparently, this is a Flickr group dedicated to typography. It is definitely worth your time to check it out. Here are just a few samples of the ones that I liked.

Yes, it is awesome. It is also true that it is grossly underused. I shall of course take corrective action.

Very nice. We often do not give more importance to typography, but now after seeing the flickr I feel I should try different styles more often.
I was looking at these the other day, not just on flickr but on the stock exchange site as well. great photos to be had there!
I haven’t used Flickr for that sort of thing, I usually go through css zengarden and steal good ideas

Nice one… That’s a very interesting site! It’s amazing how I never find these for myself though…
There are so much also around use. We just need to stop and look at them.

Nice find! I’m particularly fond of the Ruud logo. It’s amazing how varied the formation of letters can be and the different responses they can elicit. Good stuff.
Yeah - I’m guilty of under using it also. It’s funny, I told a lot of my colleagues and friends about Flickr and a few of them make really good use of it - while I just forgot all about it.
I WILL revisit it soon…

I have been using Flikr with a reasonable amount of success. Some of their offerings are however a bit overwhelming!

Does anyone know what the Kiwi & Mango font is?
Aren’t company logos protected by some kind of copyright? Well, they do fine for inspiration, and with a slight change they make for cool fonts indeed…
That’s the thing, you only use fonts or get a inspiration from them. Of course you can’t use logos as they are copyrighted.

can someone give us a website where we could find those fonts.
A lot of free to download fonts are available online. You just need to search in google. I recently got a name plate made with a very fancy font I had downloaded for free.

Never tried Flickr. I am dutch and in the Netherlands flickr ain’t so populair. But it seems awesome!

These are some great typography inspirations from Flickr. I haven’t seen it that way but obviously it’s a great source of inspiration:)
I think that this is a good example of a website that is quite automatic and don’t require too much the webmaster.
But the only thing this blog does not do is to post new articles on its own

Do you use the FlickR plugin for Wordpress? It lets you search within the post box for images and automatically inserts the image along with the proper attribution to the person who took the photo. As far as typography goes, I love to experiment with using the same font with different attributes (color, face, weight, spacing, kerning) for logos, headers, etc.
There’s a lot of cool things in Flickr but never heard of this one too. I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks.

I was never big into typography as I’d see all these creatives as just really boring. But then I learned to appreciate it when doing identity packages that need to transfer over well to business cards and promotional items.

Yes, Flickr is a great place to find inspiration. Lots of typography and lettering groups too. Perhaps I should add those links to the post.

I just used a variation of that “Kiwi and Mango” sign for a logo I’ve been working on. Flickr is a great source of inspiration.

Those are some ideas. Flickr can be a resource for finding themes and designs. I personally never searched it for this purpose, i use google image search the most but flickr is good as well. Here is the proof.
