Nowadays, in order to get yourself a decent Wordpress theme, it seems like you need to pay for it. And some of these premiums will cost you a pretty penny. But besides alliteration, what advantage do they have? Well, I am glad you asked. I plan on answering that as well as showing my picks for the creme of the crop.
This is in fact the million dollar question. With such a vibrant theme making community within Wordpress (including my very own creations), why should anyone bother paying? Well, the answer lies in market forces. When there is proper incentive like a price, more times than not, the end product will be of higher quality. Now, this is not always true and in some cases there are superior free themes (something I may have to post about later…). But my point is that you usually get what you pay for. Not only are you buying a better designed theme, but you usually also get support, free updates, and sometimes even the original PSD’s for your editing pleasure. So without further ado, lets get to the themes.
Would you consider using a premium theme? Are they even worth the premium to you?
Good post. Quality does cost and its better everyone understands that before. The only problem is that the same template is bought by so many others. Wish the paid for templates retained an exclusivity, that would be so much better.
Usually, I like to hire someone to make me a custom theme for each website i make. I like my themes custom so i won’t have the same theme as 20 other people. It makes my websites more unique. It’s not that expensive either. You just gotta find the right person =)
And in free theme you can receive commercial add that will spoil you? site
The revolution theme is definitely worth it. I run the theme on most of my blogs.
Wow some of those themes are really clean. I have to check them out!
great theme. and more expensive
I would also say originality. Once a free template gets popular, it can be seen around a few times. Granted I half live online, so maybe I am seeing them more but still.
@moserw - The exclusivity would be great, but you can edit most of the themes so they don’t look alike. Like Mike, I like the Revolution themes and if you look at their samples, most of them do not look like the original template.
I finally just started a WP blog, took me long enough, and I died at the amount of themes available. Took me forever ust to sift through…quite a few once installed didn’t work in some fashion though…
I was looking for a nice video theme and havent found any good free ones, might need to spring for a pay one because there are a couple of really nice premium ones.
When we can see one of these themes on the blog?
though these themes look gr8…but everybody cant afford it..
It’s sad that we can’t have so many themes for other blog engines.
It sometimes can take a while to find a great theme. Personally, if I like what I see then I am more than happy to pay for it especially if it doesn’t mean hours of fiddling around with it to get it to look the way you want it to.
LOL
Donwload????
I have noticed that most blogs use similar/same themes. So finding the right unique wordpress theme will take quite some time and thorough searching.
I awyas support idea that premium themes are worth paying. At least they has support, what is so important for beginners
I definitely feel that it is for the commercial use only. Individual bloggers that aren’t trying to get rich won’t fall into paying for what you can get for free.
the best
ok
tj
thanks
thank you
Thank you, it works. Great theme
The bad thing about payed themes is that somebody else is gonna buy them too, then you are not all that exclusive. I like to grab some good theme and then rewrite it a little, just to get a style that suits me best.
