Nowadays, in order to get yourself a decent Wordpress theme, it seems like you need to pay for it. And some of these premiums will cost you a pretty penny. But besides alliteration, what advantage do they have? Well, I am glad you asked. I plan on answering that as well as showing my picks for the creme of the crop.
Why Pay For Wordpress Themes?
This is in fact the million dollar question. With such a vibrant theme making community within Wordpress (including my very own creations), why should anyone bother paying? Well, the answer lies in market forces. When there is proper incentive like a price, more times than not, the end product will be of higher quality. Now, this is not always true and in some cases there are superior free themes (something I may have to post about later…). But my point is that you usually get what you pay for. Not only are you buying a better designed theme, but you usually also get support, free updates, and sometimes even the original PSD’s for your editing pleasure. With so many free (and excellent) wordpress themes one has to ask himself if it is really worth it to pay for a premium theme… besides there are so many premium themes too that is as hard to decide as it is to chose from free templates… Having said that, I thing the StudioPress premium templates are a step ahead… just google them to find out more.
I found a cool free wordpress blog them. I wish I know how to make my own but I don’t so I want to use one from topwpthemes.com but I cant figure out how to upload it to my blog I am building on word press. Can you help me?
I’ve used both Portfolio Press and Blubs, and have largely been happy with both themes.

The problem with most free themes is that you don’t get much documentation or support. If you have to spend hours getting your free theme to work… it’s not really free.
I’ve just signed up with “Elegant Themes” where I get some great themes at a reasonable price and I get support.
I’d go for a premium theme every time… it’s cheaper in the long run.

In my opinion if you know you’re way around the web there some great free themes you can use. But if you’re new to Wordpress I would advice to buy a Premium Theme so you get some support, the PSD files and quality for your money
I have noticed that most blogs use similar/same themes. So finding the right unique wordpress theme will take quite some time and thorough searching.
