Pranking The Firefox Team

06.24.08 Posted in Sidenotes by jdmacor

It seems like the folks over at the Microsoft Internet Explorer development team have started a kind of tradition. When Firefox 2 shipped, the development team at Mozilla received a cake with a giant IE logo. Now that Firefox 3 has shipped, low and behold, the offices at Mozilla received another cake…

  4. Your blog is dead and full of spam.. to bad its not about typography because typography is awesome cool…

Typography traces its origins to the first punches and dies used to make seals and currency in ancient times. The typographical principle, that is the creation of a complete text by reusing identical characters, was first realized in the Phaistos Disc, an enigmatic Minoan print item from Crete, Greece, which dates between 1850 and 1600 BC.[2][3][4] It has been put forward that Roman lead pipe inscriptions were created by movable type printing,[5] but this view has been recently dismissed by the German typographer Herbert Brekle.[6]

  5. you should definitely look a little closer before writing.
The L is symbolized by the trace of the little green vehicule. Without the green little vehicule, the slim trace wouldn’t have been credible, because it wouldn’t have come from the UFO (the trace of which a a little but larger).
It seems that Google team think a little before putting something live on the web.

I guess frustration has its way of showing itself too. But on the whole, I think this one is done in good humour and in good spirit. It really did make me smile. Anyhow, I am an ardent fan of Firefox and though I do have IE7 also, I rarely ever use it. I don’t know how far my rants about IE are true today but it had a tendency to get a lot of virus especially when you downloaded pictures. I reformatted and reconfigured and even with a new system the problem remained. Now I use Firefox and I never had the problem again!
