Four dollars a gallon! Four dollars a gallon!! I can’t believe how much I paid at the pump today! I drive a Lexus RX 400h; the h standing for hybrid. Yet, I am still hit just as hard in the wallet as anyone else. Sure, it doesn’t help that my hybrid SUV only gets decent mileage (about 25 mpg’s), but things are still horrible. The question I asked myself and the question it seems that everyone is asking themselves is, what can I do about gas prices?
Well, the short answer is nothing. There are market and political forces at play here that are beyond any individuals control. At the same time, there are ways to alleviate this pain until prices (hopefully) settle down at a more comfortable level.

I hadn’t thought of a lot of these tips. These are all great ideas. Many people have bad habits that they don’t realize are affecting their gas usage. Simple things like parking in the shade or parking in the first spot are prime examples. I am surprised that you recommended to completely fill the gas tank. I had always assumed that by buying less gas you would keep your vehicle lighter resulting in better gas mileage.

This reminds me of last year when I was working 2nd shift.
I was taking a backroad route to stay off the highway and noticed this car really close to me… and then I realized he was drafting and not tailgating.
I pulled over to a parking space in the middle of town and yep, he pulled up right behind me and stayed there until he realized I wasn’t actually going anywhere.
He pulled around me and left.

I am just curious about some of these. Why would parking in the shade, for example, save on fuel costs? Also, why should you only fill the tank when you are really low? Overall, you’re going to end up with the same amount of gas, so wouldn’t it just be best to fill up your tank whenever you see gas prices are low?

I know this is unrelated but a great way to save money in general is buying products online. My company sells kitchen and bathroom cabinets online. Because we are an online company, we completely eliminate the overhead of maintaining a showroom and can pass this value onto our customers. If you are interested in kitchen remodeling you should definitely check out our website and see how much it would cost you to buy the kitchen of your dreams you’ve been putting off for years!
